THE STORY OF WROXHAM BARNS 1982 – 2011
The idea for Wroxham Barns was born in 1982 with the vision to transform rundown agricultural buildings into a centre for showcasing crafts.
Restoration and conversion of the barns began in January 1983, helped by a £20,000 grant from the English Tourist Board, and we officially opened on May 24,1983.
The children’s funfair was added in 1988 and Junior Farm opened in 1992.
Amongst the crafts showcased through the years are spinning, batik, bookbinding, basketmaking, furniture-making, lacemaking, needlecraft, woodturning, minerals and jewellery, glassblowing, painting and printing.
Today, Wroxham Barns is visited by an average of 350,000 people per year. You can see archive photos of Wroxham Barns in our photo gallery.
