Top Norfolk chef gives new look to Wroxham Barns’ menu

Wroxham Barns is re-launching its restaurant menu under the guidance of consultant chef Stephen David, of the highly-acclaimed Earsham Street Café of Bungay.

Stephen has many years experience working at the high-quality end of the catering industry, including six years as head chef at The Hoste Arms in Burnham Market and as consultant chef to the Brancaster White Horse. He personally has won numerous awards including AA’s Seafood Chef of the Year and achieved the Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2000. His Earsham Street Café and Deli won both Le Routier’s Café of the Year and Food Shop of the Year for the whole of UK & Ireland within the second year of its opening and it also has been commended by The Times newspaper as one of the Top 10 Cafes and Delis in the South East and London area.

Stephen will be refreshing the whole of the menu at Wroxham Barns’ popular tea shop, now called The Old Barn Restaurant, with a particular aim of strengthening its lunch-time offerings. To this effect he will be introducing new dishes such as:
  • Brancaster Mussels in White Wine and Cream
  • Binham Blue, Beetroot and Fine Bean Salad
  • Baked Seabass with Fettucine Pasta, Roasted Peppers and Wilted Baby Spinach
:and taking a new look at old favourites, with the menu now including pan-fried lambs’ liver with bacon, and grilled sausages with mustard mashed potatoes.

The emphasis throughout the menu will be on fresh, seasonal produce using local ingredients wherever possible. Customers can now also enjoy a glass of wine with their meal, with the restaurant recently being licensed.

Ian Russell, director of Wroxham Barns said "Our tea rooms have always been popular for our cakes and home-made scones, but we now want to offer our visitors something more. Hopefully people will become to see Wroxham Barns as not only a great shopping destination, but somewhere you can have a jolly decent lunch too."
