Just Norfolk at New Gallery
A new art gallery, specialising exclusively in images of Norfolk, has just opened at Wroxham Barns. The Norfolk Gallery will be run in conjunction with Chris Hutchins, resident artist at Wroxham Barns, who himself specialises in black and white sketches of Norfolk scenes.
Ian Russell, director of Wroxham Barns, said, "A permanent gallery dedicated to images of Norfolk will add another dimension to Wroxham Barns. The gallery will feature a changing exhibition of photographs, paintings and illustrations, both traditional and modern work, framed and unframed, and in a wide price range, so there should be something to appeal to all tastes. The featured artists will also change on a regular basis, so visitors will always have something new to see."
Among the exhibitors for the opening months will be John Higgins, well-known for his striking panoramic prints; John Hurst who specialises in traditional watercolours; Mark Yardley who has a definitive style in bold coastal images and Gareth Hacon, whose atmospheric black and white prints perfectly capture the haunting quality of the Norfolk coast and skyline.
Although there are number of other artists and photographers already lined up for future exhibitions, Ian Russell is keen to invite others to submit their work. "Any artist or photographer who specialises in images of Norfolk in any way, and who would like to exhibit their work at The Norfolk Gallery, should get in touch. We have over 350,000 visitors a year, so this will be a great opportunity for showcasing their work to a wide public audience."
Artists or photographers who would like to exhibit at the Norfolk Gallery should contact Ian Russell on 01603 777107 or email ianrussell@wroxham-barns.co.uk.
The Norfolk Gallery is open daily from 10am-5pm.
