Send a Cow Manager at Farm
Chris Kyeswa, Programme Manager, Uganda, for charity Send a Cow, visited Junior Farm on Tuesday 18 November. He received a cheque for £1,000 from Eileen Calverley, Junior Farm Manager, who is a Send a Cow ambassador, comprising of 5p donations from the sale of bags of animal feed.Send a Cow, www.sendacow.org.uk, a UK charity established by Devon farmers in 1987 to support small-scale farmers in Uganda, has offices in Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Lesotho and also works in Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia.
Chris Kyeswa, who was on his first visit to the UK said: "My interests in fighting poverty in Uganda are working with needy and vulnerable persons to help them have a sense of hope and dignity. My main concern is not having enough funds to meet our farmer partners' demands for development aid. Wroxham Barns' support is a great encouragement to our charity. The money will go towards securing appropriate livestock for vulnerable farming families and also to provide training."
"Junior Farm is a wonderful place for families’ to visit," added Chris Kyeswa. "It is so important for children to come face to face with farm animals and understand that food does not just come from a supermarket shelf. I hope Wroxham Barns inspires the next generation to want to produce their own food."
