Stuart Evans has produced an exclusive Wroxham Barns Bitter – a premium bitter – to mark the opening of his new "Uncle Stuart’s" brewery at Wroxham Barns.

Established in Lingwood in 2002, Stuart Evans’ brewery has supplied Wroxham Barns restaurant and Country Food Store for the last four years.

“Last December, Stuart Evans mentioned that he would really like to move his brewery to Wroxham Barns,” said Ian Russell, Director Wroxham Barns. “We were delighted to be able to accommodate him here. His beers have always gone down well in the restaurant and the brewery complements our Apple Shop which sells Norfolk cider and apple juice.”

“We are looking forward to developing a long working relationship with Stuart and congratulate him on his excellent Wroxham Barns Bitter,” added Ian Russell.

Stuart Evans began brewing as a hobby with his late father. “My family were really enthusiastic about the results,” said Stuart Evans. “I decided to set up a part-time brewery from home in 2002 and then went full time in 2005. My niece Lucy gave the brewery its name. She drew a picture of pint glasses calling them ‘Uncle Stuart’s Brewery’.”

Lucy Evans, now 16, is part of the brewery team and will be working part-time in the shop.

“I am very excited to be at Wroxham Barns,” added Stuart Evans. “It is great to be part of a business community committed to promoting the best of Norfolk.”

Uncle Stuart’s hand-crafted beer uses East Anglian malted barley from Crisp’s of Fakenham and Munton’s, Stowmarket. Stuart Evans’ beers include Excelsior Best Bitter, Strumpshaw Fen, Local Hero (Nelson), North Norfolk Beauty, Norwich Castle and Norwich Cathedral. He also sells up to 100 bottled beers from other Norfolk and Suffolk breweries.
