Enter our Scone Competition

We've made well over half a million scones in our kitchens since we opened in 1983. We think we're pretty good at it, even if we say so ourselves, but maybe you think you could do better?

If so, here is the opportunity to put it to the test. Wroxham Barns will be staging its third Annual Scone Competition on Sunday, September 27, part of the Bidwells Norfolk Food Festival.

There will be four categories: plain, fruit, cheese and freestyle – any ingredients allowed!

Entrants should bring along four of their best freshly baked scones by 2.30pm on Sunday, September 27 for judging. A complimentary cup of tea will be given to all entrants, while they wait for the judges' decision.

And the judges? We have a star-studded line-up this year including Graham Barnard & Karen Buchanan from BBC Radio Norfolk, Neil Haverson from Let's Talk Magazine (accompanied by the prizewinner form the Let's Talk Competition), Glyn Williams, Editor of Seasons Magazine and Sarah Brealey from the EDP.

All plain and fruit scones will be tasted with a locally-made raspberry jam and a dab of fresh double cream. All cheese scones will be tasted with butter. Judging will take place at 3pm and winners will be announced immediately thereafter.

Champion scone maker in each category will win a meal for four at our restaurant café, with further prizes for second and third place.
