Norfolk's new rose
A new variety of rose, named after popular TV celebrity Fern Britton, was launched at Hampton Court Flower Show by Bill LeGrice Roses of Wroxham Barns. The new rose, a creamy, yellow, scented floribunda, 2-3ft in height, gives masses of flower from the end of May to the end of October. For every rose sold a donation will be made to the Women for Women Appeal, supported by Fern Britton, which helps fund research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening illnesses that affect women and their babies. Fern will also be undertaking a bike ride through India this autumn for the charity.
"Fern’s Rose", as it will be called, has been developed by Bill LeGrice, who has been involved in the rose business since a child. He is now a leading figure in the rose-growing industry, being a member of the Royal National Rose Society and called upon, world-wide as an authority on the flower.
The company has recently relocated its main office and plant centre to Wroxham Barns, the popular craft and retail centre at Tunstead Road Hoveton. Liz Barnes, company secretary of LeGrice Roses, said "This is a much better home for us. It is much easier for people to find us and there are more facilities at Wroxham Barns too, so our customers can enjoy a bit of shopping and lunch while they are here."
"Fern’s Rose" can be pre-ordered from Le Grice Roses with delivery from November.
