Top marks for Junior Farm
The management team of Junior Farm at Wroxham Barns are celebrating after being officially recognised for their commitment to high standards. The Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS), which was developed by the Access to Farms partnership, ensures that schools, pre-schools or groups visiting farming-type attractions can be confident that their visit will be safe and of a high standard of educational quality. Junior Farm at Wroxham Barns is the first commercial farm attraction in Norfolk to be associated with the award.
Junior Farm Manager Eileen Calverley and Assistant Manager Imogen Burgoyne have both undergone an six-month assessment process which looked extensively at different aspects of Junior Farm, including health and safety issues, quality and training of staff, the management and operation of the farm, its approach to educational visits and its facilities, such as toilets, refreshment areas and parking.
"Being a member of the Scheme is important for us because it reinforces our suitability as an educational farm attraction." said Eileen. "Teachers planning a school trip can be confident that we are safe, education-focused and that we have the facilities they need for a successful group visit."
Ian Russell, director of Wroxham Barns added, "Parents are understandably concerned about the risks to their children when handling animals, and most farms today have a good standard of hygiene. But to protect young children you need the highest level of cleanliness and safety, and this requires special training and attention, which the CEVAS accreditation recognises."
Junior Farm at Wroxham Barns is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
